Quick answer: Directional news trading is permitted on Speedy and Pro. Instant Funding has a five-minute window around red-folder events in which you may not open a position. Structured straddles are prohibited on every program.
What's permitted
Holding positions through news releases
Opening new positions during high-impact red-folder events — except on Instant Funding, which has a five-minute window; see below
Taking a directional view on a release
What's prohibited
News bracketing — placing opposing pending orders around price before a release to capture movement in either direction.
Breach: at 13:28 you place a buy stop at 1.2720 and a sell stop at 1.2680 ahead of a 13:30 CPI release. Price spikes, the buy fills, the sell cancels. No directional view was taken; the structure profits either way.
Compliant: a single buy stop at 1.2720, because you expect the release to favour the pound.
Also prohibited: simultaneously opening buy and sell positions on the same asset during a release, and structured straddles designed to exploit spread expansion or slippage.
Instant Funding — the five-minute window
On Instant Funding you may not open a position within 5 minutes before or after a red-folder event. This does not apply to Speedy or Pro.
Red-folder events are identified using the official ForexFactory.com economic calendar
A position opened outside the window may remain open through the event
Outside the window, directional news trading is permitted as on the other programs
Only the opening time matters. A position opened outside the window may be held through the release and closed at any time — including inside the window.
All other rules still apply
Volatile conditions don't suspend anything. Drawdown limits, exposure limits and stop-loss requirements all continue, and widened spreads make breaches more likely, not less.
Review at payout
Funded accounts are reviewed at withdrawal. If prohibited hedging or straddle activity is identified, the payout is rejected and the account may face further action.
